Traditional Tea Ceremony and Celebration at Larz Anderson Park
Shirly and Jerry’s wedding was a beautiful blend of tradition and celebration. The couple began their day by getting ready together at home with their two super sweet cats!
After taking some beautiful portraits in the stunning fall colors of Larz Anderson Park, we made a quick stop at Shirly and Jerry’s favorite dumpling and bubble tea restaurant, B Cafe. Here, they enjoyed a few appetizers and tea—a fun and relaxed moment before heading to the ceremony.
The traditional tea ceremony was the heart of their wedding, where Shirly and Jerry served tea to their families. In return, family members presented the couple with gifts—either red envelopes or gold jewelry. This exchange symbolizes the family’s blessings, and the ceremony itself was a meaningful moment of connection with their loved ones.
Food played a pivotal role in the day’s events, especially since Shirly is passionate as a food photographer and blogger (check out her Instagram to see some of the best restaurants in Boston). After the tea ceremony, guests found their seats for a delicious ten-course dinner. Guests were treated to a feast that was not only a meal but also an experience that celebrated the art of food.
In addition to these festivities, the day was enriched by several traditional performances. Shirly’s students played the dulcimer, filling the air with its delicate, melodic tones. The excitement continued with a vibrant lion dance, a theatrical mask performances, and other traditional acts!
Shirly and Jerry’s wedding was a true reflection of their personalities—deeply rooted in tradition, rich in cultural heritage, and full of personal touches that made the day truly unforgettable.
